I do not know exactly how state my case, so I will list what I do. I am positive there is more, but this is all that I can think of right now:
- I reduce my waste, recycle goods, and reuse items
- I changed the bulbs in my house to CFL or LED bulbs
- I vermicompost and compost via Bokashi
- I freecycle
- I regularly donate old clothes and items to charitable organizations instead of throwing them out
- I buy local, organic, or near organic foods
- I drive a diesel car
- I installed "smart power strips" that turn off accessory items when a main item is not used to reduce "vampire appliances"
- I converted all of my battery-popwered items to rechargeable
- I put a "hippo" in my old-school toilets to use less water
- I have replaced appliances in my house with "energy saver" certified models
- I have a solar charging unit for my cell phone and iPod
- I installed a programable thermostat
- I turn off the lights when they are not needed
- I donate to local, national, and global environmental organizations
- I contact my elected officials regarding environmental issues
- I tell my friends and family things they can do to be more environmentally friendly
- I try to look for items made from recycled or repurposed materials
- I turn the water off during the shower while lathering up
- I go to many environmental websites, e.g. grist.org, treehugger.com, etc., to be better informed
That is all I can think of for now. I am sure I will update this in the near future.
