• Mark Ruzzin is director of the Western States Regional Capacity Center for ICLEI, a membership association of local governments committed to advancing climate protection and sustainable development.
• Mark served on the Boulder City Council from 2001 – 2007, and as Boulder mayor from 2004 – 2007. As mayor he played a critical role in the development of Boulder’s Climate Action Plan and in winning voter-approval for the nation’s first carbon tax, to fund implementation of the CAP.
• Mark was one of the first signatories of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, and represented Boulder at numerous national and international climate change conferences, including the inaugural Sundance Summit in July 2005.
• Before joining ICLEI Mark worked as a staff member at the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project, a Boulder-based public interest organization promoting energy efficiency in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
